Fashion Profile: Vicky-T

I absolutely love Vicky T from Cobra Starship. She has her own unique style while still not going overboard. Plus, how many people can really rock a keytar?

Haute Look and other savings ideas

I have recently come across the website Haute Look and it's really great! I have found so many different great deals on clothing and makeup.

A great way to buy stuff online and save money is to have a special email account just to sign up for newsletters. Usually on a brand's website they have a place to sign up to get offers. These offers will tell you about friends and family discounts along with free shipping and upcoming sales. Some sites have free shipping quite often so you might never have to pay for shipping again! :) Mac Cosmetics has free shipping almost a couple of times ever couple of weeks. It's great if you don't live near a store, but love their products and don't want to spend a lot of money at a time.

I also suggest looking on amazon to see if it's any cheaper. If it isn't, at least you have a place where you can buy many different items, have more of a guarantee than ebay and can earn points!

High School Makeup 101

Although many kids believe that putting a lot of eyeliner and mascara is the proper way to wear makeup, it just makes them look like they were either punched in the eye or had a fight with a sharpie. Makeup maintenance is important to help keep your face clear from blemishes. Here are some great tips for high school makeup.

  1. Get a nice eyeshadow base--there are a few eyeshadow bases at Wal-Mart and drugstores, but if you want to splurge on anything, this is what you want to splurge on. I personally prefer Too-Faced Shadow Insurance which runs about $18, but lasts for a long time. This will help to keep any eyeshadow in place for the entire day.
  2. If you use eyeshadow or foundation, use makeup brushes and wash them regularly! This is important to keep germs away from your face. You can get a nice Sonya Kashuk, which I am spelling wrong, at Target. If you want, you can also find brushes at Sephora, Ulta, and CVS.
  3. Invest in a face wash and wash your face once a day. Don't overdo washing your face because it will dry out your skin. Also, get a moisturizer to help keep your face hydrated.
  4. For problem pimples, not acne, try using Clean and Clear Persagel. It has worked so well for me and it runs for around $10.
  5. For eyeliner, try using brown and only putting it under your lashes, on your waterline, on the top lid. It gives definition to your eye lashes and keeps you looking natural.
  6. Just apply a little bit of mascara. Start at the roots and wiggle your brush as you get to the ends. Clumpy eye lashes is not attractive.
  7. Wear neutral colors and if you want a splash of color, add a color liner or color in your crease. If you want more colorful looks, try looking up information on youtube.
  8. Foundation, do not use sponges more than once, but I prefer a makeup brush. If you have dry skin, try a liquid or cream. If you have oily skin, try a powder foundation. If you want help finding a foundation, bring a friend or go to a makeup store and they will help you.
If you have any questions about makeup or beauty, a great resource is looking online to YouTube. There are plenty of reviews and tips for any makeup or beauty need.

Update Your Look!

It's almost back to school time and most high school kids want to find some new clothes to update their style. If you can't afford to overhaul your wardrobe, try a few of these tips for a new wardrobe for less than $100.

  • Find things that can be used in more than one way or outfit.
  • Check out when sales are going on and don't pay full price
  • Always head to the sales rack first
  • Don't forget about thrift stores. You might not be able to find the latest trends, but you can find your basics there.
Here are a few items that are cheap, but can really update your wardrobe.

  • A cute sweater can dress down a nice dress or even dress up a t-shirt. A great sweater in a neutral color will work with almost anything in your wardrobe.
    • It's summer so make sure to check the clearance racks for some good deals on sweaters. Here's a great casual sweater that is under $10!
  • One trademark necklace is all that you need. I personally wear a necklace that I got a Macy's last summer that is supposed to give positive vibes. Check Forever 21 or Fred Flare for some great pieces from disney to birds.
  • A couple pairs of jeans is all that you need. Try to get jeans that are dark washed and straight legged. This way your jeans will be able to be dressed up or down. Also, jeans can be worn for up to a week and will be less likely to get stained.
  • A cute dress that can be worn for dances and daily wear is also nice to add to your wardrobe. Check H&M and Forever 21 for great dresses for cheap prices.
    • This white dress would look great with some bright accessories or worn with a colorful cardigan.
    • A floral dress always looks good and here's an example of one under $15.
    • A nice pair of black tights that are available at walmart or target can turn a summer/fall dress into a winter dress with ease. It's also great if you don't want to shave that morning.
  • A couple of camisoles are important, just make sure not to pay more than $10 for each. You can get camisoles for $2.50 each at Forever 21.
Just make sure to spend your money wisely. Pay more for pieces that can be worn in more than one way. Also, pieces that can be worked into every season and even new trends are great.

Great Website!

So I just discovered this great new website! Ruche

The clothing and jewelry are very unique. Here are a few of my favorite pieces.

This dress is only $42.99 and is absolutely adorable. This could be dressed up with some heels or even used as an every day dress with some flats or sandals.

With this dress, I would pair a cute necklace like this one (which is only $14.99). I am definitely starting really like this website.

All in all, they have a great selection of clothing ranging from swimwear and outwear, to casual and formal dresses. Their jewelry selection is definitely unique and appealing. I have never ordered from the site, but it looks to be good quality. I am definitely going to pick some of these items for my next paycheck! If you have ordered from here, please comment below and give your opinion!

Vintage Fashion

I have always loved vintage clothing. Looking though old photographs and watching old movies has always made me yearn for wardrobes like the stars in the movie. Acquiring those looks is getting increasingly difficult as most women are wearing their dresses shorter and shorter. I recently found this website that had photographs from the 1920s on from fashion magazines. These I believe will become increasingly helpful when trying to find clothing similar in style to these. Plus, these will be helpful when I go swing dancing the next time so I can feel the part. I love the feeling of dancing swing with a full skirt!

Here is the website I mentioned. I will probably be posting other websites and pictures as well.

Belle Inspired Clothing

My favorite Disney Princess is Belle from Beauty and the Beast. I had not watched the movie for 10 years, but then my friend started watching it one day and I fell in love with it once more. I even bought the movie on DVD. I recently found this article on College Fashion about Belle-inspired clothing, but I don't really think I like their options.

Here are two prom dresses that look more like Belle than their dress.

For casual day wear, I would definitely consider this dress. This is a gorgeous sun dress that isn't too expensive. Dress #4 also is nice, but it is a little more dressy than the first option.
